I half-watched, half-DVR-ed the Oscars show, and although I was happy with the results, the show itself was very odd.
I can now see why Peter Gabriel was protesting the way the 'best song' numbers were presented: We didn't get to hear all of each of the songs as we usually do. Not only were only three nominated, but then they cheaped out on doing performances built around them. Instead, they did that gratuitous musical dance number in the middle of the show, which was three or four minutes, and had -- as far as I could tell -- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the awards. It was very odd.
I sort of liked the overall format, awarding things in somewhat the order of production, but then they would throw in all these other films during several of the categories ...that weren't nominated...or even relevant to 2008. It was as if they weren't proud enough of the nominations this year.
All in all good choices for winners...very strange show.

Hehehe by some great movies you mean TDK and Iron Man. Well, I'd say that they did a great job, but then I don't think they did anything really groundbreaking. Movies were good, though, and they got their share of plugs. Downey is on the rise, Ledger got his posthumous Oscar, etc.

yeah, im sorry the sound and visual effects in those movies were by far much more incredible than Slumdog and Benjamin....
