Oprah said: "Ok listen, I have not been this excited over a movie since I don't know when. I'm telling you have I got the movie for you!
It's the BEST MOVIE I've seen in a long, long, long, long time.
It literally swept me off my feet. The audience saw it last night. Did you not think that that was some movie?
Was that a movie? (audience go into hysterics)
Was that a movie?
Was that a movie?
Oh my goodness!!
I mean they just don't make movies like that anymore, they really don't.
Didn't you laugh? And I KNOW you cried. Weren't you on the edge of your seat?
Oh my God and what can we say about Hugh Jackman? (fans face) Be with me, be with me.
Anyway this is the movie to see over thanksgiving. it is epic, it is majestic, it is a romantic, it is a spectacle and the scenery is so gorgeous you can barely stand it. It is everything a great movie should be. The new Baz Luhrmann film called "Australia"
Australia's to stereotypical a film to win at the oscars...it was like how when Pearl Harbour was being made people thought 'oh it's a 3 hour epic that's a love story, it'll sweep the oscars.' But it didn't, it's the same run of the mill movie that we get so many of...it might get a nomination or two to fill in the gaps, but I don't see it winning anything because it's nothing special. There's also a very real chance that it'll flop critically and financially. |

It's good, but you're right, it's not really anything special. We've seen films like it before.
I haven't seen too many memorable films this year, and as usual, most of the late contenders I probably won't get a chance to see to make any real predictions.
Slumdog Millionaire was certainly more unique than many of the offerings.
Milk has a lot going for it also.
Dark Knight is a great action/thriller/adventure film, but I doubt it will win anything but the usual awards for that genre. To be honest, it was almost too much to take in during one viewing. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." |

I did pretty well this year...although I missed Kate Winslet.. Although I'm not unhappy at that "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." |
