Recently Ben Barnes was asked about the differences between the book and the movie version now under production. He revealed (in an interview more about his other film Dorian Gray) that they borrowed some ideas from another book in the series, but exactly what those 'borrowed' pieces were he didn't reveal.

Here's the interview, you have to scroll down a bit to get to the Dawn treader question:

SF Examiner Interview with Ben Barnes

The speculation is that there's a couple of characters on board the Dawn treader (seen during filming) that aren't in the book...apparently a woman and child.

More to come, I'm sure, but how obvious are the changes isn't obvious, either.

I just went back and re-read the books, and I can see where they would need to explain some parts of the story better. Especially where they encounter the island with the pirates/slavers.
