ComingSoon.net caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Tuesday and learned that George Lucas is looking to repurpose the six "Star Wars" episodes into 3D format.

Katzenberg told us that Lucas is very excited about it and that he's got the technical resources to pull it off. "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate," Katzenberg said.

Stay tuned for possibly more on this soon.

Honestly, who cares if the movies are made 3D or not? It's not like he's altering the story or effects in any way. If anything, this should provide the audience with a different lense with which to view them.

Ye're probabely not surprised because this was announced maybe a year ago and he ain't altering it . . . as far as I know. He's just transforming it to a new format. Greater quality and higher detail . . . much higher

Anyways . . . I'm looking forward to it.

I'm sort of curious how much he's going to try to milk off of these things.

With all his revamps and ridiculous add-ons, he's pretty much insulting (not to mention ruining) his own creations.

So he gives us another version to either enjoy or ignore. So what?
Does that somehow take anything away from the older copies you have on VHS or DVD (or laserdisc )? No.
Does it "rape your childhood"? no.
Some people will enjoy seeing the original trillogy in 3-D. They can have at it. And those who don't like it, cn save their cash and watch the original trillogy as they always have.
So where, exactly, is the harm?
And how does it make George Lucas an "A-hole" by giving fans another way to enjoy his films?

Seriously, grow up and get your heads out of your butts.

Exactly. They are his films and he can do the hell what he wants with them. Mother of god, just stop bashing George Lucas. I'm sick of hearing it.

I know Episode I and II might not be good as the others are so what. They are not bad movies but they are not the best either. Just be happy and enjoy what we got.

Some of you are just selfish just because you don't like something that George Lucas changed or added on then you just go ahead bash him. Get over yourselves. Jeez.

This isn't exactly new news. We've known about this since RotS came out. I'm personally still very excited about it though. 3D movies are a lot of fun but it seems like only crappy movies come out in 3D. So it'll be nice to finally get some good movies in 3D. And it's especially Awesome that the best movies of all time will be released in 3D. And it's especially ridiculous that some wackoes get all bent out of shape about it when it doesn't even affect them.
