We've got some amazing news courtesy of big time producer Roy Lee, which tells of his plans for some future remakes including The Host. In addition, there is a brief mention of him still producing The Ring Three, so keep those fingers crossed as you read on. We'll bring you any updates as they come in.

From Sci-Fi Wire:
"Roy Lee, who produced the English-language remakes of Japanese horror films The Ring and The Grudge, has more than a dozen films in development next year that will also be based on Asian hits, Variety reported. Lee has produced seven remakes so far, including Dark Water, The Lake House and The Departed.

Among the films Lee is producing is Host, which holds the all-time record for biggest box office in Korea. Lee told the trade paper that he is currently trying to figure out a way to remove the pic's underlying anti-American stance, while making it more than a generic monster movie. Lee's other upcoming projects include The Invasionstarring Nicole Kidman and Daniel CraigThe Eye, Ikiru, Oldboy and a third installment in the Ring franchise."
After the disaster that was DreamWorks' The Ring Two, I assumed we'd never see a third film in the franchise -- but maybe there's still hope. We're going to do more digging and get back to you on this one.

The other day Sci Fi Wire had posted a small news bit teasing the future horror films of big time Producer Roy Lee, one of those films was The Ring Three. We got excited about the blurb and decided to go straight to the source for more. Here's the news directly from the horses mouth... as of right now the plan is to hold the film for a few years and go into the franchise "with a new fresh story," Lee tells Bloody-Disgusting. So the good news is that one day we might see the return of Samara! The original plan was to tell the origins of Samara in a similar fashion to the Japanese film <Ring o: Birthday. In the 2001 smash hit remake, a young journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone in a week of viewing it. Watch this spot for any news as it comes in. Right now Roy Lee is working on a remake to the Korean smash hit The Host.
