Ann Brashares' first novel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants proved an amazing success. Though designed for children it was praised by critics, earned awards and attracted attention from teens and young adult readers. The same was true for its successor, and Brashares remains amazed at the success of the series even as the third volume Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood (Delacorte/Random House) begins appearing in stores.
