Splash = Businessman in love with woman he meets from the moment he first sees her that he doesn't realize is a mermaid wanted by the government for testing

Aquamarine = movie based off a book I might read if I wasn't a 24 year old male converning a mermaid washed into a resort pool that two girls befriend and hide and have to convince the local lifeguard hunk to fall in love with.

Splash was about 20 odd years ago. I'm guessing a lot of kids haven't seen the movie, and this movie is probably geared towards preteen girls......and JoJo fans.

I agree it's a completely different movie, but the whole premise of a mermaid being part of the real world is the same.

Yes, it's definitely aimed at the (ugh, I'm using their marketing term) tweens and early teens market.

The few snippets I saw seemed almost insultingly stupid even by teen movie standards.

I think the youngsters of today deserve better.
