Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the love-it-or-hate-it Silent Hill (review) on August 22nd, according to Davis DVD. Director Christophe Gans' stylish horror film, based on the Konami game and starring Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean, arrives in separate anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen editions, each with Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Bonus materials will include the six-part Silent Hill Production Diary documentary featuring "Silent Hill Origins," "Casting Silent Hill," "Building Silent Hill," "Stars and Stunts," "Constructing The Creepy Creatures" and "Creature Choreography." Despite previous speculation, there will not be an extended version for now. Retail is $28.95. Also look for UMD and Blu-ray versions day-and-date...

That is the coolest Vidoe Game/Movie cover ever. there all really cheezy, But this looks awsome. I'll probubly not buy the DVD, because I would only want the extended version. And they Did cut alot of stuff from the movie, and not just stuff form the trailers.

^ O.O That is a hideous cover! It makes the movie look like a Resident Evil clone with more monsters. And the tagline is really cheesy too. >< And btw, I don't think there will be an extended cut because the one released in theatres was the directors cut. =(

I kind of like it. It's alot better than the Resident Evil dvd covers... and definetly alot better than the cover they chose for Doom (what ingods name were they thinking with that... it should have used red colors... not blue)

i think the covers awesome! can't wait for the release... I think it's much better than the other game-movie covers, however I did like the Resident Evil: Apocalypse cover a lot. I'm pretty sure that it will sell/rent a lot of copies, and I really hope they make a second!

I don't like the cover, it seems like one of those B-Horror-Movies ware they show all the monsters close together like that. But it doesn't really matter because i am buying it anyways, the best horror movie/game adaptation i've seen in theators in a long time.

The cover is everything Silent Hill isn't. From Garlodor at the Silent Hill Forum:

The cover sucks. Pure and simple. It is everything Silent Hill stands AGAINST. Fear of the unknown, emphasis on the normal people, despair and anxiety, fog and darkness, etc. It just screams low-budget B-movie, which it most certainly is not. Silent Hill has always given me great first impressions; here's what I got out of the cover:
