Production company Morgan Creek has hired Jeff Sank and brothers Jason and Justin Heimberg to write a third installment of the hit franchise "Ace Ventura," says The Hollywood Reporter.

The two previous Jim Carrey comedies -- 1994's Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and the following year's Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls -- grossed more than $180 million domestically.

The latest pet project is expected to center on the eccentric detective's son, who steps into his father's shoes to take over the family business.

STUPID!!!, they should have used jim in it, now we know that they just want to make money off of the francise name and not make a good third instalment with jim.

Haven't they been paying attention? Don't they know what happens when you do a sequel to a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey?

I thought Dumb & Dumberer was hilarious but Son Of The Mask sucked and I bet this one will probably be staraight-to-video.

And that is pretty weird how they've made 3 sequels based on Jim Carrey's movies.

Brodie.. I had this news up in our news area before they did - I would appreciate it greatly if you could check our news first. I don't mind the sourcing other sites in the boards but c'mon give a gal some credit when I actually beat them to the punch
