The Coming Soon! Box Office Report has been updated with the studio estimates for the weekend. Be sure to stay tuned there for the final figures on Monday afternoon.

Will Smith's new sci-fi action film, I, Robot dominated the box office earning an estimated $52.3 million from 3,420 theaters. The $120 million-budgeted 20th Century Fox feature marks the 5th biggest opening for the month of July and is the best opener for Smith, squeezing passed the $52.1 million Men in Black II bow in July, 2002.

Sony's Spider-Man 2 dropped to second place after a two week reign at the top, adding $24.2 million from 4,058 theaters to push its massive domestic total to $301.7 million. It surpassed the $300 million mark in 19 days (Sunday), which is one day shy of the 18-day record set by Shrek 2 in May. Spider-Man took 22 days to reach the mark in May of 2002. The $210 million sequel has climbed to the 20th spot on the all-time domestic blockbuster list, and has earned $415.6 million worldwide.

The new Hilary Duff romantic comedy, A Cinderella Story, debuted in the third spot with an estimated $13.8 million from 2,625 theaters. It was budgeted at about $19 million. Will Ferrell's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was close in fourth, garnering $13.4 million in its second week for a total of $56.5 million.

Michael Moore's $6 million-budgeted Fahrenheit 9/11 rounded out the top five with $7 million to bring its four-week week sum to $93.8 million. Touchstone's King Arthur dropped to sixth place its second weekend making $6.9 million. The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film has collected $37.9 million so far. New Line's The Notebook added another $5.5 million for seventh place and has pulled in $53.7 million in four weeks.

Shrek 2 earned $3 million in its ninth week out in theaters to bring its massive total to $424.8 million. It's closing in on Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace ($432.1 million) for the fourth spot on the all-time domestic blockbuster list. The DreamWorks animated blockbuster sequel is up to $681.1 million worldwide and currently sits at the 16th spot on the all-time worldwide list.
