Word is Emily Blunt is in talks to bring BLACK WIDOW to the big screen in IRON MAN 2 opposite Robert Downey Jr.


director Jon Favreau are now focusing on casting another nemesis for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark: the femme fatale Black Widow.

Emily Blunt has emerged as the frontrunner to play the role of Natasha Romanoff in the "Iron Man" sequel. She's a Soviet super spy who doubles as Black Widow, a beauty in a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry.

Though I've never really followed Iron Man, has the Black Widow had that big a tie to him? I'd more expect her to show up in Daredevil than Iron Man.

And can anyone explain why it's Romanoff? Her name's Romanova. I've even read Tony Stark call her Romanoff in comic aswell

I have no idea about the name thing. I always thought it was Romanoff.
And your right, she is often associated with Daredevil because they worked together for a long time. Just like the past when they had Captain America & The Falcon teamed up, they made it so that Black Widow and DD actually shared the title of the comic.
But both before and after the time when she was hangin with Daredevil, she was involved with Avengers, which is the reason why she will appear in Iron Man 2.
As a matter of fact there was a transitional period in the '90s when she was even the leader of the Avengers. So that's why.

in the Ultimate Avengers they are getting married then she dumps him for Captain America i believe may need a refresh, as far as i know in the normal marvel world not much of a tie

Wow. Your a piece of work. All women in comics seem to have very large breasts. It's unrealistic. Ugly? I don't think so.

I know she has the connection to Stark through the Avengers, and maybe that is why they're including her, as a forerunner to the Avengers movie. But it says for Iron Man 2 she's a 'nemesis'. To me that implies she'll have a major role and i'd rather see Black Widow introduced that way in either a Marvel reboot of Daredevil or a Nick Fury movie.

It was Janet that left Hank for Cap. Black Widow was engaged to Stark but [SPOILER] turned out to be working for the Liberators and had killed Hawkeye's family. So he shoots her in the head with an arrow [/SPOILER]

Emily Blunt is grand. I think she'd be perfect, not that i really know anything about the character in Iron Man comics, but as a sort of superspy, that makes perfect casting sense.

Not unrealistic in this day and age and hey it's my opinion. She is a hot character and I think they could do better in casting.
