When the story first showed up on Fangoria's website about new novelizations coming our way based on some of New Line's biggest horror franchises, namely A Nightmare On Elm Street, Final Destination, and the last few Jason movies, I tried not to get too excited. I mean novelizations of films are usually crap, right? Right. So how good could straight-to-book sequels possibly be?
From the sound of it, pretty damn good.
Fango got some more info straight from the source, namely Marc Gascoigne of Black Flame Publishing, the group putting the books out, and now, damit, I can't help but be a bit excited about them. Check out this quote and try to tell me they're not taking the right approach:
"OK, so these books are kinda pulpy. Damn right they are! Cheap trash, though? Perish the thought! We might be firmly in the land of the B-movie here, but what made the movies so popular was a certain flair and quality, and our books are written the same way. The last thing we want is for a curious reader to try one, only to hurl it away in disgust at a lame plot or an unrecognizable star. Pulp and proud, that's us, and we're damn good at it."
Make sure you check out the rest of the cool info for books with titles like Jason X: Planet of the Beast and a new Friday the 13th series with the kick-ass title Church of the Divine Psychopath by clicking here!
Whoa!How cool is this...?
Thanks to DreadCentral for the heads up!
