Let's face it... Matthew McConaughey is in a class by himself and there are very few women out there that don't find their heart skipping a beat when he strolls on screen. From adventure man to momma's boy, he can pull off anything and make it a good movie.
Matthew McConaughey is Tripp, a 35 year old who still lives with his parents. And who can blame him? It's free, he's cot a great room and mom (Kathy Bates) does the laundry. Desperate to get him out of the house, his parents hire a gorgeous woman, Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker), to give him a little... push. They just didn't expect Tripp would push back! Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, Terry Bradshaw, and Alias' Bradley Cooper co-star in this romantic battle of wills that proves there's no place like home.

Of course Matthew is charming and there is no denying the screen chemistry between him and Sara Jessica Parker. Matthew plays Tripp, the boy/man that never leaves home and with that dazzling smile and hints at a tragic past he does a great job. Sarah Jessica Parker does a stellar job as Paula and as I said, the chemistry is definitely there. The co-star cast I enjoyed the most. I thought Zooey Deschanel was quirky and hilarious, Justin Bartha and Bradley Cooper were perfect as the friends (and I tell you Bradley Cooper is a personal favorite of this NKK), and of course I did get a serious laugh over Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw as the doting yet scheming parents. The animal scenes are not something to be missed!

For the Bonus Features, what you think would be cool to see was not on it. There were no deleted scenes, and what is worse- no gag or outtake clips. How you can have a comedy with no funny cut mistakes to watch is beyond me. You are treated to a great making of featurette- Casting Off: The Making of Failure to Launch with cast interviews. The Failure to Launch Phenomenon delves into reasoning why children are more stay at home than venturing out into the world and I'll admit that was an eye opener (I'm old school - you turn 18 you get going and show your parents what a good job they did). Watching the Moviefone.com Unscripted with Matthew and Terry was very funny, but then I do find Terry Bradshaw to be hilarious. The Contest feature showed you the final contestants from the online contest and after a Q&A (funny) session with Bradley Cooper and Justin Bartha the winner is announced (of course I'm NOT going to tell you who it was).

How can you go wrong with a fantastic cast, hilarious moments, animal mayhem and some serious hotties to check out? You can't of course, so get yourself a copy today and get ready for the laughs! |
